Matar, Gujarat: KP Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Botswana to collaborate on the development of large-scale renewable energy generation, energy storage solutions, and transmission infrastructure.
The partnership supports Botswana’s objective to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 and marks a key step in KP Group’s global expansion strategy.
The MoU was signed between Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy and KP Group, comprising KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited.
The agreement follows the recent visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Botswana, highlighting the growing bilateral cooperation between India and Botswana in the clean energy sector.
KP Group Botswana MoU Targets ₹36,000 Crore Investment and 5 GW Renewable Capacity
Under the agreement, KP Group and the Government of Botswana will jointly undertake renewable energy and allied infrastructure projects involving an estimated capital investment of USD 4 billion (₹36,000 crore).
The planned projects are expected to add nearly 5 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity. The collaboration also covers the development and strengthening of high-voltage transmission infrastructure within Botswana, along with regional interconnections aimed at improving power reliability and energy security.

KP Group to Support Skill Development Through Annual Scholarships
As part of the partnership, KP Group will offer 30 scholarships every year to citizens of Botswana. These scholarships will support education and skill development in renewable energy, engineering, sustainability, and related fields, with the objective of strengthening local capabilities, promoting knowledge transfer, and enabling long-term workforce development in the clean energy ecosystem.
KP Group Marks Manufacturing Milestone with Matar Facility Inauguration
The MoU signing coincided with another significant milestone for KP Group, as Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi virtually inaugurated KP Green Engineering’s advanced fabrication and galvanising facility at Matar.
The new facility adds more than 2.94 lakh metric tonnes of annual production capacity, enhancing KP Green Engineering’s capabilities to support large-scale renewable energy and transmission projects.

Commenting on the collaboration, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy, stated that the partnership would help accelerate clean energy deployment while delivering long-term economic and environmental benefits.
Dr Faruk G Patel, Founding Promoter of KP Group, said the MoU reflects a shared vision to unlock Botswana’s renewable energy potential and contribute to its net-zero transition.
KP Group currently manages a renewable energy portfolio of around 6 GW in India and is progressing toward its target of 10 GW by 2030, with active interests in green hydrogen, energy storage, and advanced solar technologies.
